Africa Overland 2.0: From Dakhla to Bissau

Africa Overland 2.0: From Dakhla to Bissau

Spending Christmas and new year exploring coastal Western Africa, starting from Dakhla in Western Sahara to Bissau in Guinea Bissau and ending in Dakar, Senegal. I’ll also stop at Nouakchott, Saint Louis and Abene, hoping to catch the end of year festivals at some of the places.

I started planning this trip a year ago because I’m very well aware that West Africa is not very tourist friendly in terms of infrastructure. The original plan had been to get to Sierra Leone but I just couldn’t get any reliable information on the state of the coastal road between the two Guineas and didn’t feel like spending 48 hours on the road so decided Bissau was the perfect stop.

Currently in Saint Louis, having racked up about 1200km, waiting for Chiny to arrive for what is now our end of year tradition. We’re missing Eby but it’ll be back to the trio next year, hopefully.

I hope you had a nice Christmas spent with friends and loved ones. Or like me, alone but happy regardless. Here is wishing you all a prosperous new year filled with love and peace.

xx
