Lust In Lisbon

Lust In Lisbon

I fell in love with Lisbon.

I fell in love in Lisbon.

The all day rain on Saturday could not put a damper on the getaway.

Heaven knows I needed this after an intense couple of weeks where I had a huge pile of dung heaped on my plate. It was a last minute decision to go away, I didn't even get to pack until 30 minutes before I left for work on Thursday.

I had one plan - Go with the flow and have fun. I definitely did!

Got into Lisbon just before midnight no thanks to a strike in France and French airspace. In 5 minutes I went from check in to grabbing a pint of beer and heading on a pub crawl with at least 20 other people. Several hours, 2 pubs and a club later, I took a walk by the water front and danced to no music at the Parca do Comercio square. That set the tone for the rest of the weekend.

The chapels were out of this world! Saw the Se Cathedral, Chapel at the Jeronimos Monastery and Igreja de sao Roque. I loved them and will like to worship in them one day.

No trip to Belem is complete without visiting the world famous Pasteis de Belem for their Pasteis de Nata. I hear they sell over 20,000 of the pastels them every day. It was DIVINE!

I walked - Baixa/Chiado, Alfama, Bairro Alto, LX Factory. Giggled through the cobbled streets with Cici over the attention we got from the men, laughed some more (after wincing in pain) when an old woman whacked my shoulder with an umbrella because I refused to buy from her (she went from zero to 100 in 2.9 secs).

My last night was spent huddled on a bean bag knocking back beers and taking turns at creating words with Cici and our new Dutch friends. It was the perfect end to the weekend. If it had gotten any better, I probably won't be back writing this from London.
